Barefoot Reflexology was founded after I completed my training with the Irish School of Reflexology in 2018 under the tuition of principle Tatiana Lawless Grosso and Sr. Brega Whelan, retired reflexologist and author of Reflexology: Harmony and Health.
What I love most about reflexology is the way it really does treat the person as a ‘whole’ and doesn’t isolate symptoms or conditions while ignoring the rest of the body. Time and time again I have clients come back to me and tell me they feel so much better – both physically and mentally – after a course of treatments. Sometimes they just can’t put their finger on as to why they feel so good – they just know something inside them has changed: they have more energy, they feel more positive, they sleep better, they feel motivated to exercise, the list goes on!
Reflexology has completely changed my life too. With the unavoidable advancements in technology consuming our lives (and lets face it, it’s pretty hard to do anything without it these days!) it’s so vitally important to have a safe place to find solace where we can time-out and reconnect with ourselves. In such fast-paced and hectic lifestyles it’s never been more important to take responsibility for, and to prioritise our health. We need time to tune in to our minds and bodies equally, to feel grounded, and to step back and reassess whats important to us. It’s good to pause for a moment to bring back that awareness and reflexology provides a fantastic way to do this.
Reflexology practitioners believe illness will not manifest or thrive for long in a body that is in complete balance and harmony with itself. Dysfunctions often arise when we lose our balance (usually from prolonged stress) and as the body sends us massive signals by trying to adapt to its environment through the development of chronic or acute conditions, the first key moves towards true health should be to try and regain this balance. Our bodies are amazing and intelligent, they know how to heal themselves – it’s part of their design! Reflexology acts to assist and support this healing process. It’s a non-invasive and natural therapy suitable for the tiniest of toes to feet that have walked many miles for many years – the benefits are endless and I really encourage everyone to give it a try and see what amazing things it can do for you!
